I am discontinuing publishing the Engine & Wheels Newsletter on a regular basis. However, as time permits I intend to publish an occasional issue.

My plans are being made available as a FREE download. For some time, they have been sold for $10.00 as an email attachment. They may now be looked at and/or downloaded for free.

If anyone would like to donate to the cause, they can do so by:

Sending their donation via PayPal to the account name:  evmoore80@msn.com

Thank you

Kenda Flame Tire Sidewalls.....

Upon first examining the 3.0 x 26 Kenda tires, everyone notices how thin the sidewalls seem to be. Also, I have input from those who have tried to inflate them with a regular 2.125 tube. They found they should have ordered the larger Kenda inner tube.

Here is another solution I would like to make you aware of. Since I live in the southwest, I have a bullhead thorn problem that plagues anyone using any form of a bicycle tire, either on a bicycle or horseless carriage replica. We solve our problem this way:

Obtain some used tires in the 2.125 size. Remove the steel bead and place these inside the Kenda 3.0 tire, as liners. This combo can then be inflated with a heavy-duty 2.125 tube. A word of caution: used tires can, sometimes, contain embedded thorns, tacks etc. that could, later, give you an internal flat!

I recommend you actually spend a few more bucks and buy new tires for liners. You can usually pick them up on Ebay for less than $10.00 each.

Kenda Flame Tire becomes the Phoenix Bird ! ! !

Everett:

Look up www.choppersus.com for 26 x 3 Kenda Flame tires for  $22.99 each. I called them today and said they have a supply on hand and can order more. They also said that Kenda regularly (maybe yearly) changes the tread pattern but Kenda will always carry a 26 x 3 tire, it just might not look exactly the same as the ones we now use. They said these are relatively flat on the area of the tire that touches the road so I  think they are the very same tire I purchased in the past.

 — Changes within the hobby —

Many of you may have noticed that the plans files have been removed from the CDO and HCR Yahoo Groups. Lee Thevenet has revised, improved and added to them, plus is presenting his Ford "T" Speedster body plans. He is now, for a nominal cost, making them available on CD's at his new website.

Go to: http//www.horselesscarriagereplicas.com and purchase what you want.

Plans are afoot to combine the two Yahoo groups into one, the HCR group. Builders can still post messages, photos, etc. as usual but, now only have to deal with one group.

I'm trying to find a musical chip that will play "Come With Me Lucille in My Merry Oldsmobile" — same sort of thing as on the "Good Humor" wagons. I found an outfit that makes the chips but they don't have the song I wanted. I thought maybe some reader might have more information or suggestions. Thought it would be fun to put on my CDO.
