ACTIVITIES

Such as Car Shows, Old Threasher Re-unions, Gas Engine Shows,
and other activies where we can show our handicraft.

This page is intended to show what can be done with a home built carriage when completed. Parades are a natural and a seperate page has been added for parades only. This page is for activites other than parades such as the sub-title indicates. To go to the Parades page  ( Click Here )

I encourage anyone reading this website who has similar experiences to email pictures and a description of the event and I will post them to this page. It is our desire to build a nation wide exposure to the enjoyment that can be had by displaying your handycraft to the public.

The carriage shown below may have been the homebuilt that started it all. Designed and built by Jimmy Woods of Coker, Alabama, this design has been around for over 5 year. See the upcoming issue of Engines and Wheels Newsletter for more information on Jimmy's cars.

Jimmy just sent me the picture below taken Aug 03 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. This was a "get-together" of 14 copies of Jimmy's car plus one "black sheep."

The "Black Sheep" as we dubbed it, is best described as a free lance design. Most refer to it as kind of a Model "T".

Arizona Flywheelers 20th Annual Engine Show
March 20-21 — Cottonwood, Arizona

Since this show was held right in my own hometown, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to display the Quadricycle. I chose to be inside out of the hot sun. However, I had to drain the gas tank to make the Fire Dept. happy, making it a static display. We were in a building with model gas engines, R/C airplanes and model railroaders. We had drawings and gave away plans manuals to 3 happy winners.

My wife, Marilyn, took care of registering people to win plans while I explained the details of the Quadricycle. These little cars always make a refreshingly different attraction for show visitors. The more we can expose our hobby the better.

I soon learned there was a similar car running around outside and I went-a-lookin. I soon found Steve and Joyce Lee from Lawrence, Kansas who had ventured out West to visit the Cottonwood show. They used their modified version of Jimmy Woods' car for transportation around the outside displays. More pictures will be in Issue No. 5 of Engine and Wheels when it appears. You'll want to see Steve's unusual power plant.

Guns, Pretty Girls and Horseless Carriages

This past Saturday, we went to the Cowboy Action Shooting in Hot Springs, Arkansas. I am attaching some pictures of our horseless carriage (gun cart). Thanks again for your help and support. What fun my son and I are having. In the second picture is Tiffany and her dad, my son, Brad. He and I are the builders. In the last two pictures is a lovely lady who goes by the name Velvet Glove.  Hope everyone enjoys. Don Terry

In Issue 39 of Engine and Wheels, Don's Quadricycle was featured and how he had added gun racks and an ammunition carrier so his grand-daughter, Tiffany could use it to participate in her hobby of Cowboy Action Shooting. What a "beautiful" way to promote our replica carriage hobby!

Rocksprings, Wyoming - Feb 11th & 12th, 2006

Tom Mesa of Rocksprings, WY, displayed his fine looking carriage at the 12th annual Sweetheart car show. The event was a fund raiser for the Child Development Center.

These replica carriages are always a hit at any car show. They seem to really attract the interest of the old timers who still remember the real ones of years gone by.

"My wife and I had a lot of fun talking to people about it. Some asked if it had a engine or if it really could be driven and the speed it would travel at. When the show was over and as I was driving out I heard a lady say 'hey it does go in reverse & he can drive it' "
