Jim Pavone, of Long Island, NY finshed his carriage just in time for the Hicksville Memorial Day Parade! The photos, above, show Jim driving his first parade and enjoying every minute of it! I'm going to let Jim tell about it — The car was a success! I lead a brigade of 50's vintage cars. The 1956 Belair , 2 - 57 chevy's and a Roadster over heated and were forced out of the parade. The other cars made it to the review stand. I made the local press and the club had some publicity. I was able to operate the quadricycle very well and many photos were taken? It almost felt as though the car was a major attraction at the parade. Cheering, clapping etc. I played Rag time music! It was great fun. I understand the Hicksville Long Island Parade is one of the largest parades on Long Island. Lots of interest in the car. The passenger is Mr. Patrick Crowe, present President of The Hicksville Chamber of Commerce.

Versailles, Woodford County, Kentucky 2005 County Fair Parade

If you will look in Engine & Wheels Issue 26, you'll see a darling little girl driving the "sidewalk" car her grandfather, Don Richardson, built for her. Well, she recently got her first experience in parade driving on June 11, as witnessed by the photos below.

McKenzie and her father,   Marc Richardson, are all line up, in position and waiting for the parade to start. For safety sake, Dad walked beside her. Please take note that she is not yet 5 years old!

A little "Air Cushion" for safety sake!

If driving the parade wasn't thrill enough for McKenzie, how about winning First Place for the most unusual entry and Second Place in the Novelties and Equipment Catagory!

From what Don told me and, also, witnessed by the children's faces, this little car caught the eye of that age group. I would imagine that several fathers will be persuaded to, also, build one. Don is working on plans for this car. It would be a great "entry level" project for beginning replica builders.

Tiffany, also, competes in cowboy action shooting with 2 shotguns and 3 lever action rifles. As you may have guessed, she carries her ammunition in the trunk.
